The votes have been tallied! Meet the 2012 Veterinary Economics Hospital Design People's Choice Award Winner: Anderson Veterinary Clinic in Anderson, Calif.
Designed for functionality yet built to be bright and airy, the building features clean, modern lines and maintains a homey feel. The practice's owner, Dr. Marilee King, wanted the experience of visiting the practice to be uplifting, comforting, and efficient. To meet this goal, the interior and exterior spaces were designed to be calming with warm, familiar finishes. "Our clients are happier with the new facility," Dr. King says. "We now provide a healthier, more enjoyable environment for our patients, clients, staff, and doctors. The staff is proud to be associated with this facility."
Located in a small rural community with a depressed economy, Dr. King wanted to use as many area business to help build her clinic as she could "If we were going to build a new clinic, I wanted it to benefit other regional business," she says. Dr. King insisted on using local contractors and all materials were purchased locally if possible. She also selected low-maintenance and sustainable materials and finishes. Because of the new, large facility, Dr. King is now able to bring her rural clients state-of-the-art, advanced healthcare for their pets.
