Live from the Veterinary Economics Hospital Design Conference in Kansas City, we spoke with the 2016 Hospital Design Competition Award winner, Dr. Randy Spencer, owner of 1stPet Veterinary Centers in Mesa, Arizona, one hospital in a three-hospital chain.

His advice for those ready to embark on a building project of their own? Make sure you have a vision for your practice, and find an architect and contractor who can make that vision happen.

Future planning is also something to keep in mind. If you’ve outgrown your building as soon as you take possession, you’re setting yourself up to need to start the process as soon as you move in.
