We caught up with the winner of the 2017 General Practice Hospital of the Year Award in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Veterinary Economics Hospital Design Conference to see what advice she has for other practice owners about to build their dream hospitals.

“This will be the hardest thing you do, but the most rewarding," says Lura Jones, DVM, owner of McGregor Boulevard Veterinary Clinic in Fort Myers, Florida, who brought her husband, and architect of her award-winning hospital, Matthew Horton, ASLA, with her. “I got to design my practice to fit how I function as a veterinarian. My husband is an architect and we got to take my ideas and put them on paper and design the practice in a way that would give the animals and my staff the best experience possible,” she continues.

What did they do when they ran into unexpected snags? Watch the video below to find out.
