Considering patient comfort on the same level as functional efficiency when designing a veterinary clinic is becoming a standard approach. This makes perfect sense, unless the concepts become cost prohibitive. Veterinary architect and Hospital Design faculty member Heather Lewis, AIA, NCARB, says you should entertain all design ideas that foster Fear Free medicine—as long as they don't increase the price tag of size of the project.
